Memorial for the anonymous casualties in the Gaza conflict. An artwork that intends to reinstate the humanity of those lives otherwise forgotten due to their statistical representation.
'Moments' is a set of four sculptures, each capturing my most intense emotions I’ve experienced in my time abroad. Using body casting and found objects, I create surreal personifications of my happiness, anger, sorrow, and insanity.
In a process of realization regarding our position within spatial and conceptual frames, Spatial Separation is a performance project that attempts an intimate observation of one’s interaction with their environment. The documented performance involves myself, inserted into a state where I am required to consistently bear a pocket that is stacked with small round plastic beads; during the performance, which lasted fourteen days incessantly, I aimed to experience my daily life normally, with the sole exception that, whenever I stayed in a space for one hour or more, I had to pull one bead out of my pocket and mark my presence.
“Specter” aims to immerse viewers into a world inspired by 1970s retro-futurism, embodied by creating a private investigator office. This project is not only an artistic recreation but a personal examination of immersive storytelling, where to borders of time and space are blurred, inviting audiences to pass through the intersection of past and future. This project looks into the core of retro-futurism, where vivid colors, sleek lines and cinematic nostalgia join to create an immersive experience. Through detailed set design and including audio-visual elements, this space aims to produce a fully captivating environment convincing viewers they have stepped into a private investigator's office in an alternate reality.
“Sterile Rot” dissects the internalized and external sexualization of the female body through the lens of the medical gaze. Through a blend of paintings and video the work confronts the uncomfortable romanticization of the female body in pain, in compromising positions, its leakage, raw form juxtaposed to the concreteness and sterility of medical equipment. The body emerges not merely as a vessel of expression, but as a tool itself, challenging viewers to confront the complexities of power dynamics and the commodification of female pain in contemporary society.
In my artwork, I weave Christian symbolism into every aspect, aiming to evoke a profound spiritual experience. The baptismal bed symbolizes purification, while the illuminated canvases represent the primary colors used in byzantine portraits of saints,
guiding viewers on a journey of faith and self-discovery, inviting them to deepen their connection with the divine or to simply tag along on my journey towards accepting Christ into my life.
"Eat Your Heart Out" is a sculptural installation combining 18th-century French opulence with contemporary overconsumption. Inspired by Marie Antoinette's lavish banquets and modern-day excess, it confronts viewers with a surreal composition of decadence. Drawing from Sofia Coppola's film and culinary sources like John Gies and Selma Schwartz, the artwork merges historical aesthetics with the bizarre, inspired by Salvador Dalí's "Les Diners de Gala." Created in collaboration with professional baker Alexandra Laffon Rizou, the installation features lightweight spackle sculptures, ethically sourced animal skulls, ornamental glass and silverware and recycled materials.
